When and where were you born? I was born in Panama City, Fl in 1982
When did you start wakeboarding? My first time on a board was in 2001. I was completely hooked the second I got up, but didn’t start seriously riding until about 4 or 5 years ago.
Who got you started? I have to give credit to Jackson Harris. He got me up on the first try and got me going wake 2 wake by the next summer.
Where do you live? I’m currently living in Auburn, Al but my hometown is Montgomery.
Where do you ride? I ride down in south Alabama at either Gantt Lake or Point A Lake, but would love to get out to as many places as possible this year.
What is your board setup this year? I’m currently on the ’08 Ronix Mana with ’08 Ronix Kai boots. I also recently found FLEX and fell in love. I have an ’08 Slingshot Black Pearl that i plan on using as a slider board. If you haven’t ridden a flex board yet on wake you are missing out!
Who do you ride with? I ride with the Gantt Lake Mulisha. I actually just got our website up and running. Everybody can check us out at www.GanttLakeMulisha.com.
What are your plans for the season of 2009? Well my main goal this year is to get out on the water as much as possible. I want to work on my switch and toeside riding and continue to progress everything else. I’m hoping to hit more rails this year. Maybe winch some. Also my crew is all about spreading our love of wake in our community. We hope to get new people out this summer and up on a board!
Had any injuries from wakeboarding? Well nothing too major. My first trip to OWC I messed up my ankle pretty bad, but luckily was playing college softball at the time so I had tons of trainers around me for PT. The most painful injury was probably when I messed up the IT band in my leg. I cased the wake pretty bad bending my leg in a way it definitely shouldn’t. Other than that I have been very very lucky.
What boat do you ride behind? Really I ride behind anything that will pull me, but most of the time I am behind the Gantt Lake Mulisha’s EPIC 23V. I have always been a fan of the Mastercraft wake until I got a chance to ride the EPIC. The guys at EPIC are doing big things. I highly recommend getting behind one if you have a chance! If you are ever down in the Gantt area you are more than welcome to come take a set with us.
Are you coming to the Spring 2 Summer tournament this year? I am currently in Grad school at Auburn University and my research is done during the summer down in Gulf Shores, but I have had S2S on my calendar since February and if it is at all possible I will be there.
Any good boat stories to tell about? The best boat stories from my crew are always those summer weekends when we camp at Gantt. We stay up all night around a bonfire, someone usually playing a guitar until dawn when we take sets. We ride until the water is trash then we sleep until everyone is off the water then we ride again. My crew is awesome and always looking to have a good time. There are too many stories to pick just one.
I want give a huge thank you to my parents for always supporting my ideas no matter how crazy they may be. I love you guys! I want to give a shout out to the GLM! You guys are the best friends anyone could ever ask for! I also want to encourage everyone to get out and ride or bring someone who is new to wake with you next time to head out!
